Been looking hard at...

Building a 5.7x28mm upper for my AR-15....I'd wanted to start with a fixed carry handle upper with the A-1 style rear sight assembly. BUT finding said upper even in a completely stripped state is damned difficult....I've also been looking at the Bear Creek Arsenal .22 Magnum or .17 HMR complete upper instead.

Decided to just pick up more .22LR ammo while I could. Most of it was to re-stock the little bit I'd used up over the last few months. Picked up 500 rounds of CCI 22 Quiet Semi-Auto...It's a 45 grain pill being pushed a hundred feet per second faster than the standard .22 Quiet loading (710 FPS Listed on the box vs 835 FPS as listed for the Quiet Semi-Auto)...Going to see how the 15-22 and the RS22 like 'em. I figure the RS22 will be quieter with them but might not run them correctly and I think the 15-22 will be louder but will cycle them... Hope the weather clears up soon

Was able to run a magazine and a half of CCI Quiet Semi-auto through the RB22. It grouped well enough (was in the 40's and dipping when I had my short range session while dressed in a t-shirt,shorts,and a pair of flip flops) ...Think I'll stock up on as much of the quiet semi-auto loading as I can.

Think I'll pick up a couple more of the RS22's going to try and get the threaded barrel Model for attaching an A2 Birdcage. I'm thinking I'll get them one at a time and do the upgrade work as I acquire 'em. THough I could just get both of 'em and put them on Layaway before the prices increase in the near future.

Still need to get the RB22 drilled and tapped so I can add a set of Tech sights to it to maintain sighting systems standardization across the board for all the "front line " rifles in the current battery.

Something that has been on my mind lately in the world of firearms. A semi-auto rifle in 5.56x45mm that can use stanag magazines AND be directly re-loaded with NATO 10-round stripper clips. I like the aftermarket mod for the Mini-14 ,and it does make a good bit of sense for that make and model as spare factory magazines are expensive as hell (and not getting any fuckin' cheaper). Reloading with stripper clips isn't as concise as swapping magazines, though it does offer quite a bit of weight savings due to there being no bulky metal (or more so these days plastic) boxes and springs as the empty stripper clips don't take up a ton of room unlike empty magazines.

I have a new project in the works for this Summer
Ruger 10/22 ....It's going to have some work done to in order to make it as M-1 Carbine like as possible.

Just after the rain ended earlier today limited this session to just 10 rounds. The final 5 shots I really took my time and as you can see put 'em in the black. Not bad for a sub-$200 rifle and a $70 dollar set of aftermarket sights.

Interesting Project looks like, What rounds did you use?

It's a .22LR rifle. I'm going to be picking up a Ruger 10/22 next month for my summer build project....which will replace the RS22 as a mainline GPR. (General Purpose Rifle). After the Micro-14 is finished the RS22 is going to be cleaned and put into storage until needed.

The RB22 is still going to be kept around until I happen to lay hands on a Ruger American Rimfire....then the RB22 will also be cleaned and put into storage for later use.

Dope man, Godspeed.

And remember Keep you're rifles Cleaned and Maintained.

The 15/22 was the easiest to store in a relaxed state. Just pop the two pins, seperate the upper and lower, flick the safety off, put your thumb over the hammer and lower it. It's also going to be the fastest to get back into action from a stored state ....in fact it would take longer to load the magazine than to put the rifle together.

Got my new rifle yesterday and ordered the parts for the build today .....Now we wait

I need gunsss

Yes you do. I could make some recommendations for ya' , something that will be cost effective, functional, and fun. The main calibers I'd suggest are .22LR and either a .410 shotgun or a 20 gauge shotgun. The reason for .22LR is that it's the cheapest caliber to stock ammo and is easier on new shooters. Plus if you have to use said .22 LR firearms (either rifle or pistol) in an enclosed space they'll be less concussive than centerfire options

@ItsJustMayaC The 20 gauge would be easier to find defensive ammo for at the moment as the majority of .410 Ammo production has been shelved (due to the initial run on ammo during the pandemic buying spree)
