Yes the opening episode def hits hard, but I think it does that to show how irredeemable the Goblins are. Despite the cruel world they live in the party develops comradery and has each other's backs in the hardest of times.

That's more Berzerk imo, GS is essentially a watered down version, it's a bit too uh I don't think rapey is the correct word as that's used to bash it a lot but a bit simplistic in comparison is what I would say is an objective difference betwixt the two.
GS does have PTSD and is mostly driven by survivors guilt.
Yes, what I am saying is to the point I read it, it was shallower on exploring said topics, not bad at all but it's hard to compare to the master.

Dudes, the goblins are like men who'd constantly ask for permission during sex compared to the trolls in berserk. Most of those women die after pregnancy. Even the one they tried to save.

I have all of the light novels too! I also have a GS figure that is probably the favorite one I have. It might be my favorite anime but I'm always hesitant to commit to that.
What would be worse for a woman... to be raped by a Troll from berserk and then die during birth?...OR to be constantly used as a flesh light, give birth to a clutch of small beings that are going to continue the cycle until the captive dies and then after eating said captive, use their bones as arts and crafts materials?

The Trolls do the same, but it's way more violent than the Goblins, they don't take the entire village like Goblins. To them, it's like herding, and waiting for more women and children to be made. They also kidnap children and (potentially) rape even little girls. I don't think GS went that far being about 16ish girls being a prime victim of Gobs.
I wouldn't put it past the little green bastards. We haven't seen the full extent. but we do know that they enjoy torturing their captives be they male or female. I mean the Sword Maiden was raped beaten and purposefully blinded by them just for the entertainment value.
They hold grudges and have a culture. At least from what we've seen have a religious beliefs and fetishes: totems, shrines, pillars, etc.
Which is maybe a good thing. When I read the first one after the anime came out, I did not buckle down for what I would be presented to. Like holy shit, that scene with the four women is brutal—weeks of unimaginable torture from truly pissed-off goblins that wanted revenge for their comrades. No wonder they didn't adapt it.
