Working on the Forum

I'm watching some tutorials on xenforo to try and learn some cool tips and tricks. Who knows what all I may find. If you guys know any cool like videos then link'em. I did add 2 new bois to the staff. All staff positions are just to help with any reports. Unfortunately I'm not able to be around all the time and in fact getting free time just to sit and try to do this is rare so having people to let me know if something happened in my absence is great, invaluable. I do want this to be a ban-free zone (as long as you're not like literally trying to sink the site or get me in legal issues u can act like you own the place for all I care) Anyway @Max Sand @srdf will be aiding me I hope in this.

I am thinking about things I can add maybe? Like can this site also have a blog? Like can we have Metokur News? I know we have some bloggers on here who write about the war stuff who could write newslike articles on a subsection thing like Metokur.us/news or something? Maybe have a video section where I can add a user input for embedded videos about lolcows or maybe those of you that make videos can make MATI style streams and whatever discussing topics on here and as long as it credits or promotes the site then they can be flagged to be able to embed their videos for the users? maybe a scroll bar on the forum main page of recent vids? idk that stuff is beyond me at the moment but its some ideas I have swimming around in my head.

Anyway if you all ever have real ideas and you think they're cool and do-able then feel free to add them to the suggestions forum. As for me I am going to continue this video. Make sure to invite your friends. Make this place so active I just can't keep up with it even in my dreams

If you want to do a blog and news then fully host dedicated subdomains and use a content appropriate CMS for it. Wordpress for the blog (blog.metokur.us) and maybe GNU social for news (news.metokur.us). You can do simple cross posting to announce blog entries on the news feed and provide commentary in the forums.

On the other hand, news can still be done in a simple announcement style like this forum section, without anything fancy or new. Blog entries might be possible with a xenforo add-on, but you will need to find an add-on that is regularly maintained to guard against update issues, bugs, and security vulnerabilities.

While an independent subdomain based solution might be mildly annoying if there is no simple means of unifying accounts across platforms, it greatly simplifies component upkeep by compartmentalizing future issues. You won't nuke the whole setup with one bad config on a subdomain.

Exactly, it's why I don't like power and would rather not have it, or anyone for that matter. But it's unrealistic and just how the world works.

I think another thing to do is to separate the topics in a more unique way different from Kiwifarms; at least, that's what I've been hearing from them when they sperg out about it.
